Any bloke above the age of 14 who goes into a Games Workshop is deeply suspect in my view....

I can't disagree - good job they are around the house from the days of when I had a 14 year old!

Thanks CW may blow mine over with some Tempest Grey as I said maybe try a slightly darker one.
This stuff is better than the metallics I have tried in the past. :good:

However I didn't only use Hurricane Grey I did give it a light blow over in a darker metallic to put a little sparkle here and there.

Outer barrel is probably anodised - you wont get rid of that with nitromors!

Interested to hear what you're going to do with the body. Cold bluing is a bunch of arse and wears off very quickly (mind you, i'm not even sure it would work on the zinc/ally mazac anyway) Suppose there is metal blacking (Chronos do some stuff that should work) but even then, it wears off pretty quickly as well.

I would suggest that people just paint them as CW and I have done.

I'll speak to the P&C people at work this coming week (which unfortunately means speaking to a Scotsman so dour he makes Gordon Brown look positively happy and outgoing by comparison) If they don't know of something that can be used on mazac, then no-one does.

Following your advice of Hurricane Grey I actually went for another colour  : Rover - Tempest Grey. It's non-metallic and has a whiff of brown in it rather than the dead neutral Hurricane (which I thought was a bit more true to life). Re-assembled the panels then rubbed on a bit of GW Boltgun Metal on the raised & worn areas, when dry I took a fair bit back off with wire wool, painted dilute GW brown ink into the recesses for a bit of grubbiness and oil which also gives the raised areas more definition. Pistol grip was GW Scorched Brown over painted with GW Brown Ink. Over sprayed everything with Plasti-kote Krystal Clear Matt (very alarming spray 'cos is sprays more like a foam than paint spray, so light wafts doesn't work - I needed to saturate and hope for the best. It seems like some kind of PVA.) When dry I rubbed over with wire wool to completely matt it - bloody motor magnet attracts all the iron filings though!

Stock stripped with Nitromors SuperStrip (crap came off instantly!), water washed down, dried, wire wooled, then wiped over with Ronseal Garden Furniture Stain - Dark Oak (heh, that's 'cos I use it on our errr garden furniture, so in the cupboard) and then ran through the wire wool, stain cycle a further 7 times.

Well CW I just bought some tempest and re-sprayed mine but sorry to say it looked awful and I have now gone back to the Hurricane as it is much darker and looks more like metal. :slap:

I should have tested it first all I can presume is mine was a bad can of tempest or the lighting you took your photo was different to me.

Maybe that is one of the many late war models that were not blued, that looks just like the bare stamped steel possibly.

Just sprayed the paint on, flatted the original paint down with 600 grade wet & dry paper, then when the topcoat was dry brushed some aluminium car paint on with a brush, stock was just sanded down, stained with Peruvian mahogany stain & treated with boiled linseed oil on a rag, several coats over a week,

I find the wifelet is a more reliable guide to AEG power - open the patio doors, place wifelet at fence at end of garden. Take firing position at windows of lounge so shot travels through lounge, dining room and garden.

Fire three shots at wifelet's arse.
Examine arse.
No yelp: not powerful enough, fit stronger spring
Yelp accompanied by slight red mark: Just right for AEG
Scream and whelt: OK for bolt action, too powerful for AEG
Scream, foul language, bleeding: too powerful for anything
Hole in fence: much too powerful, pre-book trial at Old Bailey

I'm think that's some sort of euphemism - but I'm hopeless at guessing what women really mean. But whatever she wants she can have...

OK, I will have my pipe out ready for her.

Agony Aunt thread is always available to sort out forum user's problems - see sticky in Off Topic.

Ahem, MP44 seriously off topic now!!
So, back of topic - my MP44 chrono'd at 275fps on Sunday with a 1J Systema spring. I'll leave it at that in case I use it at Die Glocke but a beefier spring is called for after that!
